Love Bombed By Tweeps

What's a meat market?

An establishment, such as a nightclub, where one looks for a sexual partner.

Some people believe that Twitter is just a "meat market". It's not. Over the past several days I have discovered that Twitter is a large community full of extremely caring and loving people. Last Thursday I traveled to Washington state to say "goodbye" to my Grandma Eva who is dying of cancer. On the way there, during my stay and on the way home I was "love bombed" by truckloads of tweeps from Twitter. They weren't looking to hook up for some "red hot" loving. They simply wanted to show their care, concern and love for me. Their tweets encouraged and supported me. It was if God timed their tweets during some of the toughest times of my trip. My thanks to the following tweeps:

@PaganKelly, @ChristieSays, @DailyGrindDB, @LuvStomp, @Dana88, @JohnDobbs, @ChinaKat79, @Anne4JC, @wade_caldwell , @KyEkinci, @Allisoncds, @marni71, @jenuine512, @The_Photo_Guy, @BridgetChumbley, @heiresstonya, @johnbeattyart

(Sorry if I missed anyone.)

These are more than nutty people addicted to Twitter. They have become my friends.

  2. Mike - you are by far my most favorite messed up Christ follower! And you are a beautiful, real, open-hearted soul. I appreciate who you are, your authenticity (in the most sincere sense of the word) and the way you express yourself on your blog and Twitter.

    I am honored to be a part of your community. And as much as you have been encouraged by others mentioned in this post, you can know you have been an encouragement...to me in particular.

    @allisoncds - a sometimes nutty person from Twitter who is proud to be your friend. :)

  5. I wasn't aware twitter WAS a meat market, although I've had to block quite a few folks who seem to think so...

    Anyway, you're right. Lots of wonderful folks on twitter, including the folks in your comments section here.

  6. Mike, hope you don't mind me coming back to ask for prayer for another tweep. @DougSpur (Doug Spurling) drove all night from MN to OK after his dad had a heart attack yesterday. I haven't been able to get an update, so I'm guessing it doesn't go well. I'll post an update to Twitter when I get one from his daughter or him. Thanks, Mike!

  8. Glad I could be part of the love bomb!! ;) That is awesome!! I do love the extra community I have found on twitter...especially of people I would never have known or known of without it!

    I am the first to admit I am nutty and addicted to twitter...and happy to know I am in good company! ;) Also, glad to be called and call you friend. I do love your authenticity and boldness. We need more of it! May He bless you richly as you continue to seek Him!! Glad we can walk this journey together...even from opposite sides of the world!!

  10. I would have commented sooner, but I've been locked away taking care of a sick and extremely bored child. Glad that's over...

    I'm honored to be a part of our cool Twitter community too. Just think how much fun (or trouble we'll all get into!) we'll all have in eternity together ;-)
