The Posts With The Most

My wife Becky is a great singer. My friend Russell Holloway is a great writer. I don't consider myself a great writer or singer. But I do enjoy karaoke at the VFW and writing posts on this blog. It's always interesting to see what kind of response my blog rants will generate. Below you'll see the posts that had the most comments from visitors to this blog.

Christians Say The Craziest Things

"How is your walk with the Lord"?
"Spiritual growth through trials"
"The Lord placed it on my heart to witness and win souls"
"Have you been in the Word?"
"I have prayer requests for my backsliding friend"

Christianese. It's one of my pet peeves. It drives me crazy when Christians use words and phrases that folks don't understand. Here is an example, "Brother, after church let's meet at the narthex." I want to scream when I hear Christians say "narthex". Can't we just say "lobby"?

Christianese: "I Don’t Feel Called."
Translation: "Get someone else to do it."

Christianese
: "She is a godly woman with a soft heart for God"
Translation: "Dude, that chick is hot."

I like the phrase "Too Hip For The Room". What does that mean? It means that you are talking, acting or doing something that the average human being does not understand, connect with or relate to. Speaking Christianese is using language that is "Too Hip For The Room".

One blogger says this about Christianese: "It creates an illusion that one's proficiency in Christianese is a measure of his/her spirituality."

3 Posts About The Homeless I Didn't Write

There are days when I should just keep my trap shut and let God speak through others. This is one of those days. Below you will find 3 posts I didn't write about the homeless that are worth taking a moment to read.

I want to be like Ella

Ella is 5 years old. She and her family come to the homeless cold weather shelter to serve. Ella can't wait to serve the homeless. Her enthusiasm to serve is contagious. Ella doesn't judge the men and women who come to the cold weather shelter. She doesn't know or care if they live under a bridge or sleep on a bench. Ella serves the homeless without hesitation. She doesn't care if they are dirty or that they smell. Ella has a mission. Her mission is to serve. After dinner Ella will sit down at the table with our homeless guests, talk a million miles a minute and eat a cupcake or cookie with them. Ella doesn't think of them as homeless, bums, addicts or losers. I really believe that she thinks they are her friends. I want to be like Ella.
